GY Racing - Melges 24 CAN 31.

Even though we are not known for racing, Gozzard Yachts actually built quite a few very successful racing boats during the 1980s. For Mike and Liz, racing was a passion that was taken very seriously. After actively racing at some of the highest levels for over 20 years, business and family took center stage and they retired from racing altogether in 1988. Well, apparently the apple hasn't fallen very far from the tree and Robin (our 3rd generation) has picked up the mantle. To allow him to advance his sailing skills accordingly we formed Gozzard Yachts Racing. Sailing on one of the world’s most competitve one-design sport boats, the Melges 24 can be one of the most intense experience you can find and there is no substitute for time on the water.
To build the team we acquired an older well used Melges 24 and over the last three winters, utilizing our refit facility, we have restored the boat to her former glory. Now, sporting a full Awlgrip paint job with a bright red hull and some new sails, the boat is campaigned both locally and internationally. The name "RUSH" was choosen after much consideration. It accurately describes the feeling you get while paying homage to another Canadian icon.
As a builder of yachts of classic distinction, it might be easy for some to try and stereo type us... but the fact is we build these yachts by choice and not because we don't appreciate sailing fast. For that, there is a time and a place and we can and do sail a level higher than most of the so called performance sailor!
