SOLD Fall 2014 – 1997 Gozzard 44A Mk1 Hull #11 “Skerryvore”

As recently as 2012, Skerryvore was thoroughly gone over in preparation for a winter cruising south in 2012/13. Work included a complete overhaul of the Westerbeke 82B4 which currently has less the 300 hour clock. All new drive line components were also installed including the Aqua-Drive, mounts and an upgraded exhaust system. The knowledgeable owner, who has had the boat since new, wanted her completely reliable for one final trip which was completed this summer… he spared no expense and now she is available to do it all again. The key feature of this particular Gozzard 44 is that she is complete and needs almost nothing in terms of cosmetics, equipment or upgrades. While some of the boats on the market are priced as “projects” which need work, this is not a project but rather an already completely up to speed, reliable and well maintained example in what can only be described as a boat in Bristol condition.

“Skerryvore” features a cherry “A” interior with two heads with a shared shower to port and a full island galley to starboard. The forward cabin is normally configured as a living room with two swivel chairs and a built in entertainment center and easily converts into a private stateroom if you have guests staying over or a full 6 person dinette if you have company for dinner…

The coffee table opens for storage and becomes the base for a larger dining table stored behind the seat back. It supports the berths when they are swung into the center to form the island berth. The upholstery is ultra suede and features a bolstered block style.

The galley features a two place dinette “breakfast table” forward with a full cutlery drawer under. An 800 watt microwave can be powered from the ship’s batteries by a built-in inverter when off the dock. The refrigeration system uses a front loading freezer and and top loading fridge out outboard and opposite the sink. The island has a sink and half with ample storage under and a swing out dish and pot locker at the forward end.

The nav station is aft of the galley to starboard beside the companionway. It can be configured with a seat back using one of the berth cushions (as shown) or as a seagoing quarter berth. The nav table features hinged fiddles which can be lowered when not required. There is ample room for electronics expansion.

To port and aft is the owner’s stateroom which features excellent ventilation including a skylight port that opens into the cockpit center pod. This provides a lot more light and is quite useful when off watch while under way.

The aft head is accessed from the aft cabin but also has access to the centrally located shower. The shower itself has a door into the main cabin and has a wet locker located outboard. The Northern Lights generator is mounted outboard in the shower compartment. The forward head is designed as the day head and for guests.

Skerryvore is a well maintained and cared for Gozzard 44A and is an exclusive Gozzard Yachts listing. With full furling, properly sized ground tackle, a bow thruster, air conditioning and much more, she is ready to go “as is”.
